Cedar Mill is located north of Beaverton in an unincorporated area of Washington County, approximately seven miles west of downtown Portland. Cedar Mill lies north of the Sunset Highway (Route 26) and west of its intersection with Route 217.  Residents live in a variety of housing, from modest apartments to high-end subdivisions and a few mansions scattered among the hills.

The community of Cedar Mill provided the wood for Portland to be built, and then the produce to feed its growing population. Cedar Mill grew up around the site of a water-driven sawmill established by Justus Jones and his son John Halsey Jones in 1855.

With well-established neighborhoods you will find that many of the lots are larger than 10,000 sq. ft It’s quiet, green, and somewhat upscale in a low-key way. The zip code is city of Portland, but you pay Washington County taxes. The Max station is down near the 26, so it’s easy to get into the city if you want to.  Cedar Mill is part of the Tualatin  Hills Parks and Recreation department which offers numerous options for activities.
Public schools in and around the Cedar Mill area include Terra Linda, Cedar Mill, Bonny Slope, and West Tualatin View elementary schools; Cedar Park and Stoller middle schools; and Sunset High School, all a part of the Beaverton School District. Private schools include Catlin Gabel School, Prince of Peace Lutheran School and St. Pius X Catholic School.
